Digital Technology

Year 7, 8 and 9

In the contemporary learning environment at Catholic Regional College Melton, from 2021, Year 7 students will have access to a laptop while Year 8 and 9 students will continue to use an iPad.

These devices are used to enhance student learning with a variety of subject specific applications, provides access to textbooks and a variety of online testing programs.

Bring Your Own Device in Year 10, 11 and 12

The learning needs and final work product for students in Year 10, 11 and 12 are very different to those in the earlier years of secondary schooling. As a result, the iPad does not provide a suitable platform for ongoing senior studies.

From Year 10, senior students are invited to purchase their own device based on their learning needs. Minimum requirements for these devices are clearly outlined by the College.

ICT Provisions

Every classroom in the College has access to a data projector, Vivi access and speakers. Printers, scanners and photocopiers are also available for students. Wireless access to the internet and technical support is provided to all Year 7, 8 and 9 students to support learning using the iPad. Wireless access to the internet and technical support is available with BYODs however, repairs to devices remain the responsibility of students.

The College provides Computer Laboratories that meet the specific learning needs of a variety of subjects that require a more powerful device than the iPad or personal device. Specialised ICT equipment includes 3D printers, robotics equipment and data loggers used in various subjects.
